Stanford students at DIU!
One more enjoyable event preceded the Easter break at DIU. Stanford University students, on their study trip visited Dubrovnik and DIU. Of course, the most excitement about this event was between, both DIU and Stanford University, students.
Upon their arrival, Stanford students were welcomed by their colleagues from DIU and were taken to the short sight seeing tour around the old city of Dubrovnik. Afterwards, we all gathered with staff for an enjoyable dinner at Poklisar restaurant in old Dubrovnik port. There we had some chance to meat each other better through lovely conversation over the dinner table.
Scheme of their study trip included the introduction to the history of the region by professor Miomir Zuzul, exchange of the experiences of living and studying in the US and Europe workshop and many other shared activities. Stanford students were visibly delighted with Dubrovnik and DIU, some of them even expressed wish to come back here, not only for a vacation, but for a longer period of time. Masters program in Cultural Diplomacy that DIU offers did not seem as a bad idea to them at all.

The new academic year at DIU has begun!
There was the excitement of coming back, seeing everybody again but also meeting and welcoming the new students.
Besides another generation of freshmen, DIU this academic year welcomed many more international and Croatian faculties. New TAs and professors come from different backgrounds. Our new TA from Germany gave rise to the idea of having a "Mini Octoberfest" party at DIU.
The Octoberfest took place at the beginning of October. We all came together for a BBQ, we played games, met new students and just enjoyed time together with our professors and TAs. This was a really good start of immersing into another year of great experiences at DIU. New challenges, discoveries and a lot of studying in an interesting and efficient way are in front of us. Variety of professors and TAs certainly add up to the excitement of progressive learning something new. Student are actively involved in creating and improving the life at DIU. Parties like "Mini Octoberfesr" certainly contribute to meeting new cultures, making lifetime friends, improving professor-student relationship and all that together with getting the education for life.
After having some fun at the Octoberfest of ours there comes some period of time reserved for studying, getting some exams done and spending time on practical learning on the field. But very soon there will be another event at DIU. So far for sure there are some arrangements for humanitarian action at Christmas time. Weekly movie nights are the component of DIU life since the beginning of the academic year, and there will be more in short period of time.

Life at DIU
The most important reason to come to Dubrovnik and to study at DIU is, of course, the education that you will get here. However, the question of student life, within the university as well as in Dubrovnik, naturally arises somewhere in your mind when choosing a University.
Dubrovnik is an appealing Mediterranean town for students to live in, and the perfect place to further your education. No matter what your daily activities, it feels as if you are living in the spirit of ancient Dubrovnik. There is a whole spectrum of things that you can do individually, yet being a member of the DIU community, you will be involved in numerous other activities in both academic and social life. Some of these activities include humanitarian actions, such as volunteering at homes for abandoned children, visits to the animal shelter and many others. Once a month DIU is host to various presentations and lectures by prominent professors from around the world in which students are actively involved.
Having a limited number of students has brought benefits to our education and social life. This small number allowed us to create a close and permanent bond between the students. We also frequently get together with professors and assistants outside of the University. Among other activities, each semester is marked by a party for students, staff and faculty, and every week we have “movie nights” when a member of the DIU community chooses a movie to watch that is later discussed.
So far, the shared experience of current DIU students has been fully positive regarding our academic development as well as social life. We strongly encourage all those interested in studying at DIU to come and join us in this marvelous journey.
