WORLD POLITICAL HISTORY

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the principal processes of world political history, from ancient Greece to the contemporary era. Through selected subjects from global and national political history, the course will showcase the paths and directions of historical development. The development of the Greek polis, the Roman State, the Renaissance, Byzantine Empire, Ottoman entry into Europe, religious wars and conflicts, colonization, absolutism, revolution and founding of republics, political history of the United States, China and Japan, imperialism, world wars, the Cold War and the new world order are the general topics that shall be under review. Seminars shall be devoted to original and academic texts from specific historical periods through which they will gain insight and knowledge about certain phenomena in global and national history
