THE STRUCTURE OF DIPLOMACY

What is diplomacy? How do diplomatic structures, missions, consulates and embassies function and what is their role in the creation and implementation of foreign policy? The course will examine the positions and tasks of diplomatic dignitaries and officials, and will look at the interactions between diplomatic posts, ministries, parliaments and executive branches, and intelligence services. Furthermore, the course will examine the different aspects of diplomatic life: bilateral and multilateral negotiations and agreements; international conferences; establishing, solidifying and strengthening relationships between states and governments; the cultural, economic, social and political promotion of nations.
