MULTILATERAL DIPLOMACY

6 ECTS credits

The course introduces students to international political and security organizations engaging in multilateral diplomacy (UN, VE, OSCE, EU, NATO, NAFTA, etc.) as well as leading international financial institutions dealing with issues of multilateral diplomacy (IMF, World Bank, EBRD, etc.). The course focuses on the historical development of these organizations as well as their functions, organizational structures, and methods of action, with a special emphasis on their role in resolving issues of international relations and promoting international peace and stability. The course will also consider the role of specific international organizations in the promotion of democracy and human rights, and the strengthening of the democratic state and the free market. Special attention will be given to the membership, obligations, and privileges of Croatia in the forenamed institutions.
