METHODS OF SOCIAL RESEARCH

During this course, we will familiarize students with methods of research in social sciences and thus enable them to critically review research presented in popular press and scholarly journals. Students will learn to conduct simple research, including choosing between different research designs, adapting their choices to their topic of interest, considering practical and ethical issues, as well as presenting research in written and oral form. Under the supervision of the instructor, students will participate in all the phases of planning and conducting a real life research project.
This course will allow students to broaden their understanding of academic work, and will permit them to engage in and conduct their own primary research during their academic careers, whether in writing their dissertations or final research papers.
