INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS

6 ECTS credits

The aim of this course is to enable students to critically review and analyze statistical arguments found in popular press and scholarly journals. In order to do that, we explain fundamental statistical concepts and techniques that enable students to interpret and communicate the results of basic statistical analyses. Data analyses are based on real data sets with an emphasis on examples from social sciences. Students are expected to solve problem sets by using statistical analyses in form of written homework and exams. DIU statistics professors and teaching assistants have a lot of experience with real life research and statistical analyses and even more enthusiasm to share it with students.
