HISTORY OF DIPLOMACY

6 ECTS credits

The course will present a historical overview of the development of diplomacy and international relations. A separate part of the course will include case studies i.e. examples of actual events that shaped diplomacy as a distinct discipline. Special attention is given to the role of diplomacy in global or regional conflicts and peace conferences. The course covers the development of diplomacy from typical international conflicts through the prevention of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to the redefining of threats to global security and the fight against modern-day terrorism.
