CURRENT ISSUES IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

This course it will introduce and inform students about a wide variety of modern international issues and problems, including governmental legitimacy; nationalism; conflict and violence, including case-studies of recent international conflicts; globalization and its discontents; the role of multinational organizations in the modern world; changing notions of sovereignty; the Arab-Israeli conflict; the rise of religious fundamentalism; the war on terror; global warming and environmental issues, etc. The course will also consider whether and how these modern issues fit into the framework of theories of international relations and politics.
